I am also excited for more "Discovery" in 2020! woo hoo!
Even though... I've been hot and cold on s2. Tbh, I think I enjoyed the Short Treks more than this actual season so far. Lol
BUT if we Trekkies know anything? - it's that our series often don't get awesome until s3 or s4, so I am a patient critic! I'm just starting to think that the general streaming model for TV content (i.e. heavy serialization, to keep subscribers hooked) isn't the best model for how I most enjoy Star Trek storytelling. I think that's why I really dug those Short Treks - because they were so charmingly episodic, and varied in tone/topics.
Who knows. Maybe we'll be getting different types of storytelling in all these Trek spinoffs and series to come. I'm just thrilled that the Star Trek franchise is - for the first time in years - blossoming :) :) :)
This is exciting news! Now if only we could get a firm start date for the Picard show!
