I am unconvinced that the master manipulator that is L'Rell has killed off Voq. She is the only one who knows this technique and the only one who actually knows what she did. I think it far more likely that she has suppressed Voq temporarily whilst reinforcing the commands that will bring him out again that didn't quite work before. I think he is still in there and the death roar was subterfuge.

L'Rell has already stated she does not want to be a leader but prefers to work from the shadows what might be interesting is if mirror Voq came back to Prime. That could cause quite interesting repercussions. Also if the Voq persona is dead then Ash no longer has a personality crisis, he simply has a lot of problems viv a vis Culbers death and if he can be trusted.
I am fully prepared to have this come back and bite me, but I do believe that Voq is really dead. I think it’s a more interesting storytelling choice, as well. It lets us explore Ash’s identity crises more as his character continues to develop, and it lets L’Rell (who I always thought was more compelling) step into Voq’s role as T’Kuvma’s successor.
@BionicDave - It’s true. Though it’s also possible that Glenn had extensive plastic surgery and DNA replacement and has just absorbed cool stories and former professions from people he’s run into along his way.
(Trying to act casual upon learning that Glenn was... A SPY?!)
Ahem, uh, yeah Kev May, I agree with you! L'Rell doesn't give a boqrat's ass about Real Ash Tyler or Xerox-mind Ash Tyler, the only person she'd spend time trying to save would be her beloved Voq. And I think that's just what she did - she saved him, stuffed him back into the corner of this body's brain, then let out a howl pretending that his Klingon soul just shrugged off his mortal coil.
You know, I spent a third of my adult life working as a professional spy, but I'm really terrible at thinking that characters on TV might by lying. Surely you must be right, and perhaps this will let us have the type of ethical discussion I'm yearning for next season when we're (maybe?) back in the Prime Universe.
