With you guys dropping the Unification podcasts, 2020 just got better. There's a lot of tension out there in the real world, but hearing those great points and calming tones again has been much appreciated. Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much, Greg, and it's great to hear from you! I wish we'd gotten back on the air sooner, but we're glad to be back at it now. I'm looking forward to your thoughts as we watch random episodes of classic Trek.
@G.L. McDorman As someone who prefers classic Trek I'm 100% in support of your change in Lower Decks format. Best wishes to your family with your baby.
@Daniel Falch At the risk of angering the advocates of the new Trek shows, I have to agree. Not going to speculate what that says about me and/or the creatives now in charge of the franchise, but on a narrative level, most of it just doesn't connect with me. CTM is especially helpful on this front, since they're well versed in literature and storytelling. I sometimes suspect they also believe something is missing at the core soul of the new shows, the writers' room. IMO, it leaves Discovery and Picard as little more than platitudes about love, kewl effects and a shockingly high amount of murder. I can find no high minded sci-fi concepts or wildly creative and cohesive storylines. Disco Season 3, episode 1, unfortunately fit right back into that groove, with seemingly no course correction at all, just another mystery box evil threatening the universe and Burnham is the only person who can save us. Sad.
@Greg I remain really optimistic about Strange New Worlds, though -- I think that has real potential for some old-school stories. We're also going to be doing an episode on the first season of Picard, which I still haven't seen even a minute of because it aired during my first few weeks of fatherhood, and I am eager to check it out. @Daniel Falch Thank you! A rough night led to a great nap today, and that meant I got TMP produced and ready to go. You'll have it at zero dark thirty tomorrow! I hope we did it justice.
Are you guys doing the third season of disco?
We are back on the air, but we aren't currently covering the third season of Discovery. We talk about this in our Unification Part II episode. We do intend to do cover the season later in 2021 though. I'm not able to watch it right now, but Valerie and I recorded an episode on DS9: Rivals yesterday and she was just gushing about this season, so I'm excited to check it out.
I also still haven't been able to watch Picard! But that's on our list, too, and should be out early next year.
I have to say that your take on things has changed some of the way I view things now. The subject of mental health is so important to me and I realize that ignoring it for so long in claim of “being strong” was so wrong in my part. Would like to thank you both. Your empathic take on things bettered this listener’s coping patterns with everyday situations
@avivit.pasha I am so humbled by your comment! Speaking openly about mental health and the importance of community, dialogue, and de-stigmatization is sometimes hard to do, even as a mental health professional. I am so grateful for Glenn and for our community of listeners that embraces us. I'm on my own journey to unlearn the need to "be strong" and to redefine what strength means for me. So glad to have you in the Claytemple fold. :)
